Re: Hungarian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards (Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten)
No offense intended, Spirity. I'm just cheesed that now that there are finally english language books being written on these cards, they're all being written by hucksters. I just wish that somebody would realize that the market has some intelligence. It's a fascinating subject and it deserves better treatment. Kaph, the added cards are Love, Loss, Visit, and Some Money, a poverty card showing an emptied purse and a little money on a table.

We get it, you don't think much of her...
but some of us do appreciate what she's written and shared, and some of us have taken the time to get to know her and like her!
I like you too- but I get tired of all the criticism & digs-
can we stick to sharing about cards, rather than talking about criticisms of personalities??![]()

This wonderful forum doesn't need it!![]()
Spiritsong
I think this is an important issue that should be addressed...
I try to avoid censorship as much as possible on the forum because I want people to feel free to express their feelings about cards--books--authors--- methods--techniques--whatever, without worrying that their posts will mysteriously disappear. On the other hand, I also want everyone to feel safe and comfortable here, so it can be a very thin line to walk at times.
My personal feeling is that when you put yourself out there and publish your ideas, you're opening yourself up to criticism. Some people will love you, others-- not so much. You have to develop a thick skin when you deal with the public-- look at poor Sarah Palin as a perfect example of how difficult it can be when you step into the limelight.
Having said that, I do understand why Spiritsong found that last remark slightly offensive. My initial reaction to the comment was that Fennario was joking-- I can't help but notice Fennario's witty sense of humor. Of course if Sylvie were a personal friend, I might have taken the remark very differently. So I am glad that Spiritsong felt comfortable enough to voice her feelings.
Some of us did a bang up job tearing apart Doreen Virtue in a recent thread, and looking back I can see how someone who knows and respects Doreen could be offended by that thread as well.
I think if we keep our criticisms aimed at the works, methods, techniques, books, etc. that we discuss, we can avoid accidentally (or intentionally) stepping on someone's toes.
Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks, Fennario!
I wanted to see if those 4 cards were included in the Art Deco Fortune Telling Deck, and they are indeed. I don't own either the Gypsy Fortune Cards or the Biedermeier, so I don't know what the 16 extra cards are in this deck.

Thanks for not being one of those greyface nazi admins, Kaph! I didn't mean anything towards Spirity, who I like, or anyone else who uses the book. Heck, I use Silver Ravenwolf's rune book. :P
Re: Hungarian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards (Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten)
And you're welcome, and if nobody's linked to a list of the cards by the morning, I'll post one.
Re: Hungarian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards (Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten)
Thanks again, Fennario!
I might just forget about the Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards and focus more on the Art Deco Cards.

Hi Kapherus,
If we compare the 2 decks, The Art Deco Fortune Telling deck has got more people representing cards than the Zigeuner, being like this very similar to other oracle cards, like Vera Sibilla, Corti d'Amore...I think they can be interpreted the same way, more or less!

Re: Hungarian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards (Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten)
Hi everybody!
can you be so kind to tell me what card or combination could represent an enemy ( woman) in the Zigeuner or Biedermaier? Or another man, let's suppose a woman has got 2 love interests, beside the Lover? That's why I prefer a deck with more people cards..I have got problems wirh persons not with situations!

Yep, they're all there in the Art Deco + the 4 additional from the Zigeuner + the 16 additional listed above.
The only slight difference is that in the Art Deco, 'Desire' is 'Ardent Desire.'
I think it's interesting that the Art Deco seems to be an attempt to complete the Biedermeier into a 52 card deck.

Interesting question. I couldn't say for sure, but I've noticed that Esther Gombor uses other cards from the Zigeuner to represent people. For example, 'Desire' can also represent a woman. Officer can represent a flirt who is not interested in a commitment, etc.

Thanks Kapherus,
you make a lot of sense, in the Desire card there is a woman, in the Thought one a young man and so on...one must help himself with symbolism and images!

Cards are bisexual, they have no problem bending gender. So Enemy with a female card of some sort.
Another card with a man on it. Simple!Or another man, let's suppose a woman has got 2 love interests, beside the Lover?
