Scary Gypsy Card Daily Draw
These Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards are scary! Here's my daily draw for today...
Malady-------Widow-------Sadness

My first thought was that these cards could refer to our little guy who has been fighting off a nasty cold for the past couple of weeks. His fever spiked a little again this past weekend, and so based on these cards, I immediately decided to keep him home from preschool to see if I can get him in to see the doctor.
I hadn't even made it to the phone when it started ringing. It was the school calling to notify us that our child's teacher has been diagnosed with swine flu! They promised that the classroom has been disinfected twice, but wanted to notify all of the parents to keep an eye on the kids.
Panic time!
Anyway, my interpretation of the reading now is that Widow probably represents the teacher who is seriously ill-- she is older.
I did manage to get an appointment with the doctor for later this morning just to make sure our boy doesn't have Swine. His symptoms are not very severe, so I doubt it-- but better to play it safe.
Crazy Gypsy Cards are so dang accurate!

Thanks, rif! The kid is alert and attentive, and he wanted to go to school today despite his cold symptoms. The good thing is that we kept him home from school for most of last week due to the cold, and hopefully that kept him from being infected by the flu. [fingers crossed!]

It's interesting that we both drew Widow today, and both of our validations included an important phone call. It's definitely something to keep in mind!

Re: Scary Gypsy Card Daily Draw
I'm so sorry your guy is sick! My step-kids were also exposed to H1N1 two weekends ago and never got sick following exposure. They probably had it with the first go-around in the spring here. We also have a neighbor who's in Kindergarten and high risk who was confirmed H1N1 and she's totally fine.
The widow could also be suggesting the transient nature of the illness. It's certainly a very bad thing, but with time things will improve. Sadness can also carry that message (gradual improvement) in addition to illustrating how powerless everyone was over whether they would catch it or not.

Here are some tips on Widow and Widower, as supplied by Kat.
=======================================
I've found that Widower and Widow have different meanings. A widower
can represent a lonely male, an older male. He can also represent
someone who is trapped in the past. A need to let go and move on.
Note
which way he faces. What he is turning towards may be what he wants.
What he is turning away from is perhaps what he is not accepting of, or
what he doesn't want. It can also denote the need to think logically
about a situation.
Widow. A lonely woman, an older woman, independent, strong, divorced. A
woman who has learn't at the school of hard knocks. Whereas Widower can
be about logic Widow can be about intuition. Look at which way she is
facing. What is she turning away from, what is she waiting for?

Kaph,
I'm sorry to hear of your little man being sick!! Thats all scary stuff!
I haven't heard of any reported cases of H1N1 flu here where I am.
Good luck, and hopefully its just a cold and not the swine-flu.
Fingers crossed for you!
PS. Isn't there a bad joke in there about "pigs flying" and "swine flew" (flu)?

Re: Scary Gypsy Card Daily Draw
Well, thankfully it's just a bad cold as I suspected. At the doctor's office we ran into other parents with kids in the same class, so I didn't feel too silly about over reacting.
Thank you, Contessa! I haven't gotten any information about the teacher, so it could be a mild strain of the virus. There's another child from the school who was hospitalized for Swine a couple of weeks ago, but that child's classroom is in a different building.
Thank you for your insights! I wasn't sure how to read Sadness in this context except that the whole situation is sad, but the idea of 'gradual improvement' makes good sense!
Hi rif,
Thank you for the extra information! The teacher is older, which was why I thought Widow could represent her-- I think she's might be a widow too. In the spread, Widow is facing Malady which could also indicate that the illness refers to her, and she could be waiting for the illness to pass.
Thank you everyone for your insights!

Hi Midnight,
Thank you for your well wishes and the crossed fingers! It is just a nasty cold.

Hi Kaph
I hope your kid and his teacher are both OK. In Europe this flu has been treated as a normal flu. Itīs only somewhat dangerous for people with low immune system, as old people, small children, etc.
Cheers,
Stanze

Hi Stanze,
How's the trip! I hope you're having a super time!!!
Thanks! I haven't heard anything else about the teacher, so I hope she's okay too. Our guy is still running a fever, and he's got a nasty cough, but he'll be fine. Now it seems the rest of the house is coming down with it!
