Zigeuner Draw - Contessa
I've decided to join you guys in doing three cards for the zigeuner. It is my first love, it's just never really spoken to me clearly.
I got: Message - Journey - Unexpected Joy
So it appears that some message I receive will precipitate a journey that will make me quite happy. OR I will be happy about the journey. I think it's important to note here that the journey card appears to be most significant because both the messenger and the man in Unexpected joy have their hands facing the direction of the journey card.
It's also quite possible that my neighbor will ask me to go for a walk today, LOL. That would be a surprise because the weather has been rather awful.

Hi Contessa,
I get the same sense from your cards. I've had Message come up as 'an invitation' in my cards. Perhaps you'll end up having a better time than you expected wherever it is that you're being invited to go!
Hope you have a terrific day despite the lousy weather!

Well, I didn't go for a walk with my neighbor. I did get a nice piece of news when I picked my son up from his preschool program.
Today's is not so nice:
Theif - Malady - Jealousy
I think we're going to have another appointment cancelled on us today. I have been anticipating the call all morning (jealousy). She has cancelled on me four out of five weeks due to illness.

Hi Contessa,
Your interpretations makes perfect sense to me-- a canceled appointment is like having something taken from you! Very cool-- I mean about the interp, not about the cancellation!

Re: Zigeuner Draw - Contessa
HA! My draw from two days ago makes perfect sense now. We had a very unexpected visit from our son's sitter. She went back to college in August and we'd not gotten to see her since. Her school is a two hour drive from here. She called me today when we were leaving the Zoo and wanted to stop by and visit. I was so thrilled. We miss her - she's a wonderful young woman!
Now, my appointment wasn't cancelled yesterday so I am wondering what will come of that draw.

Re: Zigeuner Draw - Contessa
Three cards for tomorrow because my house has been nuttier than a squirrel's winter stash...
Hope - Unexpected Joy - Ecclesiastic
This gives me that "Be careful what you wish for" feeling. Something I have been waiting for will begin to take form. My initial response will be of surprise. Then the responsibility involved will set in. I think it's interesting to note that all three of the people are left leaning. Hope is casting her flowers to the wind and watching them fall (as if an offering), unexpected joy has an open palm - it looks like he is waiting for something to fall into his left hand to balance out the blessing in his right. The priest is holding a sacred object (notice the cloth to prevent him from irreverence - he cannot even touch this with his skin and his head and eyes are cast down).
I don't like the ecclesiastic card. It always baffles me.
As a side note, what is the priest holding? It reminds me of a monstrance...

I'm not crazy about the ecclesiastic card either. It seems to show as Faith for me in the little experience I've had with it. This does certainly look like something you've been wanting starting to manifest. It's like the cards are saying that you've been wanting this thing and not to lose faith.

Hi Contessa,
I really like your take on your daily draw. This draw is beautiful in a way, and I think it's cool how you brought attention to the details in the cards. You made me realize that I don't pay enough attention to the images-- I guess from being so used to reading PCs and Lenormand. I had to post the images of your cards.
It's interesting that all the people are extending out toward the left-- it makes me think of pointing toward the past. It does look like a very ornate monstrance in the priests hands-- most definitely something sacred.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: Zigeuner Draw - Contessa
Indeed Contessa your overview over the cards are very nice. If the Eclesiastic is showing Faith why do you see it necessary as a card that baffles you?
I'm asking this because I've seen Eclesiastic in a reading for me, in the past, and I've seen it as the Faith I'm bringing to the situation will bring fruits...
Cheers,
Stanze

When I started looking at these cards that was the only significance I could take away from the card. If the message is that simple that will work nicely. I am anxious to see which thing it would be

Interesting that you note it appears they all reach toward the past. I had not thought of it. I'll explain why further down because it is a very important observation.

I like your addition to the faith aspect of the card, Stanze. Part of the reason I have so much trouble with the card itself is because I don't entirely understand the role that a priest would play and how this would translate when the cards were originally created. What I have learned is that the tradition of the imagery is very important for me - it adds layers of meaning to each card. The ecclesiastic appears in the 36 card gypsy deck as well as the 32 card Biedermeier and 52 card art deco.
For some reason, until I can develop an understanding of the tradition of the cards I have a lot of trouble using them. These were my first love, but there was so little information available that I abandoned them in favor of the Lenormand. Re-visiting these has now helped to deepen my understanding and improve my Lenormand practice.
This is an excerpt from some literature I recently found regarding the different gypsy style cards:
Emotionally the acceptance of the past, penitence and absolution, spiritual freedom, the card indicates the turning toward the future. It also represent a vital and blessed event in the future. The Ecclesiastic card indicates to the inquirer that it is important to deal with matters that have been previously put aside in order to advance to new successes.
So in the tradition, it is not only about faith but absolution and forgiveness. It's also pointing towards something significant in the person's life that may manifest. Personally I find that to be too deep for a daily but who knows? Maybe I will be presently surprised.
Thank you guys. It's so nice to get other people's opinions. It also adds a lot to what I am learning.

Re: Zigeuner Draw - Contessa
Thank YOU Contessa for sharing this meaning with us. I also think that it's a too deep meaning for a single daily draw so you'll probably notice something more superficial associated with it.
Please let us updated if something happens that can be related to!
