help me with this reading
Hi all,
I have a reading that's a little too close for me to be fully objective on. I could use some help; you'll see why.
The question: Is this a suitable house for me to buy at this time? I'm looking at buying a home that I'd be sharing with my partner.
I did the no-layout spread (using my own custom Lenormand deck
), charging the House.
Sun - Book - House - Birds - Stork
This seems quite positive. Starts out with the happiness of sun. Treating book as the purchase-related paperwork seems reasonable. So we've got happiness and success by dealing with mortgage documents. (Who knew?
)
Birds speak of a anxiety, verbal news or phone calls, and a couple. Also meetings. All of these concepts seem appropriate at this time. The Stork, of course, implies a positive change. So we have change for a couple, or change coming out of a meeting or phone call; or anxiety about change taking place.
Now, here's where things get tricky and I need some objective help. Usually I only do the five cards for a no-layout. Period. I find it gets confusing or contradictory to use more. I accidentally placed an extra card though:
Sun - Book - House - Birds - Stork - Mountain
I believe this was the end of the deck. Again, Mountain was placed because I miscounted -- the fault of using my handmarked playing cards.
Mountain would change the whole reading! But is it relevant here? It's an extra card, and it seems to contradict the whole flow. However, I love the home in question, so I'm biased.
Any thoughts? Thanks for looking.

Re: help me with this reading
Hi rif,
I see your dilemma. It's a tough call because if you had wanted further clarification on the 5 cards that you normally draw, Mountain would have been the next card in the sequence.
I see Birds + Storks as 'negotiations moving forward,' but of course Mountain would be an obstacle or a delay.
Here's my take..
It seems to me that your intention was to draw only 5 cards, so the original reading stands. But since Mountain does appear in the reading, I get the sense that it could indicate a delay, and not a significant obstacle. The way I read the No-Layout, the further away from the key card, the less influence a card will have on the matter.
Storks can refer to an actual move, so perhaps the delay pertains to moving into the home as opposed to an obstacle to landing a good deal.
Just my 2 cents.

I dunno. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if I'm being positive and supportive in my response-- because I really want you to get the house you want-- and not completely objective.
What about trying another spread to confirm?

Hi rif
I must agree with Kaph. Mountain is not always bad and in this case it could mean only delays or some obstacles regarding the moving self. I do go for the delays.
I would do what Kaph has suggested and do another clarification spread.
I hope you get your house as I know how hard is to get one!!!

Hi rif
One of my favourite handmade Lenormands is a dollar deck
of Jumbo Index Playing Cards that I trimmed with a scissors to have
just the middle portion ~ it's really cute, and does the job very well.
As to 21 MOUNTAIN making a surprise appearance in your spread
~could it be like an exclamation point...signifying: " ! " there you go!
Almost saying "Good Luck!" ~and I'll say it too: "Best of Luck!" ~Arlo

Exactly.

And that is how I'd expected to read it. Had I not accidentally laid out the extra card of Mountain, I'd never have known it was next, and I would have had that lovely 5-card reading.
Storks can refer to an actual move, so perhaps the delay pertains to moving into the home as opposed to an obstacle to landing a good deal.
That's true, especially if I follow my "rule," which would have the Mountain modifying the Stork in particular.

And I appreciate that on both counts -- the sentiment and the honesty.
What about trying another spread to confirm?
Seems like a good idea. I try to avoid multiple spreads, but this makes sense if I attack from a different angle. Not sure about doing the same question again.

Thanks for your input -- and your well wishes on this!

I've seen that one, it looks nicer than the quickie job I did on this deck.
New question: will my partner and I be happy if we purchase this house now? (Or it may have been happy living there; my mind is jumbled from the issues around house hunting and research!)
Heart + Cross + House + Park + Mice
Not such a positive spread. Looks like "love at first sight" which becomes burdensome. If I consider this to be past or present, this is true: I loved the house when I first saw it, but the issues around buying a home in general, and dealing with my realtor, have me worn out and stressed today.
If Cross and Park describe the House: Cross means it's... fated? it certainly felt that way when viewing it the first time. It's also a responsibility and I worry about the strings attached, if any. Park seems likely to significate it's a publicly visible house: it's on a busy road. Park + Mice gets tricky... the value of the house (arguably a matter of public record, or what the public thinks) will go down? The house will have structural problems later in time?
This reading seems unrelated to the first, although the questions are rather different, and I don't feel that this second read has helped me a lot. At least, not in a good way. Le sigh...
Re: help me with this reading
The mountain could also mean "January" or "Capricorn". So while you may have things in motion now, the change should be complete by then.
Hope it all works out the way you picture it!

I really like your take on Heart + Cross!

Park + Mice makes me think of the neighborhood deteriorating-- and I wonder if you and your partner would be unhappy with the neighborhood or surroundings for some reason.

I agree. This reading doesn't seem to provide much help. Mice can sometimes mean 'excitement' in my own readings when with very positive cards-- so this reading seems a little ambiguous to me.
I'm sorry the news wasn't better or at least more clear. I wouldn't stake my life on a pack of cards, but at least you go forward with your eyes open.

I don't have anything valuable to add to your reading,
but just wanted to say good luck with the house, I know how trying it all can be!
And maybe Contessa was right, as to its meaning of a timing card being January?

Thanks guys.
And Stanze, I'm sorry you had a close encounter of the furry kind, in a store!

Hi rif, it occurred to me that park + mice could be the noise from the busy street getting to you, but I like Stanze's idea too. Make sure to have it inspected for infestations!
I hope it works out for you.

Re: help me with this reading
I asked for some insight into my realtor, based on charging the Lady and got the following.
Tower + Park + Lady + Child + Mountain
At core she is social yet childlike. Young looking, as with many realtors who invest in projecting an image. She is always touting her "networking group" and the people she knows who can help with post-purchase house work. She strikes me as being socially connected, in general.
Tower suggests her job in a way; and also could be read as a sense of coldness or isolation. Certainly I think she can be cold and mean when she wants to be. I'm not quite sure what to make of Child + Mountain. Her youthful spirit is blocked from expression? Interesting to me that this reading is bookended by two cards that convey loneliness and isolation. Sometimes I think she wants us to see her as a friend rather than a customer; this is something I've noticed that could be supported by these cards.
Mountain is pretty much my "no" card, and even though I didn't ask about the continuing to work with her, the thought is in my mind this week. I've been thinking about finding someone new, who I might be more comfortable working with.
At least I didn't get the Fox! Although, frankly, I'm surprised by this.
Any other thoughts?

Hi rif
If you don't feel comfortable with her I think your interpretation of the Tower and specially the Mountain can indicate a "cold" person. Someone that keeps others at a certain distance, consciously or not.
