how will D's job interview go?
No-layout for the question, "how will D's job interview go?" Birds is the key card.
Mountain + Lady + Anchor + Birds + Snake + Ship + Sun
I'm thinking it will be off to a slow start with a woman conducting the interview, who either represents the company (thus a head manager) or is kind of dull. He'll have to answer a lot of tricky questions and go the extra mile (so to speak), and maybe find a new approach to the interview process on the fly. At the end it will be a very positive interview.
Your thoughts are welcome.

Re: how will D's job interview go?
The woman giving the interview might be large and/or imposing somehow. I kind of wonder if there will be a second interview because of the two people cards but I don't feel really strongly about that. I agree that it looks like it will be a bit awkward at the start but the interviewer will warm up to him before the process is over. It might also feel like the interview is never going to end...
Good luck to "D"

I get the same feeling from these cards. The Lady seems a little resistant or indifferent at first, and she may come as overbearing or too self-assured. I agree that it looks like some tension at first, but then it's smooth sailing to a positive outcome.
The outcome looks great with Sun. I hope D gets the position!

Hi rif
I also agree with your interpretation and I'm wondering if you consider the woman who's doing the interview the lady and then the snake is the "tricky" situation?

Re: how will D's job interview go?
Hi all,
Thanks for chiming in. The feedback is that the interview did go well. I didn't get a sense that any of the specifics about the Lady were met; I gather that the woman who did the interview was very pleasant, and nothing seemed to fit in with the Mountain. I believe the interview was generally positive and upbeat.
They did walk to a different location to conduct the actual interview, which could reference the Ship.
But as I said, D. believes the interview went well as the Sun suggests, which is the most important thing.
If they decide to take the next step, there will be a second interview with a district manager via telephone.
Thanks!
Please note that I only asked how the interview would go, not if he'd be offered the job. I was saving that so I could practice with another question.
Stanze, yes, that is what I was thinking. In the context of the no-layout, Lady made most sense to me as someone doing the interview. I rarely (ever?) use Snake as a person in the no-layout.

That was great to hear that the interview went well.
I was going to say that there were going to be a few twists and turns with the questioning but it will progress ahead very successfully.
Good luck to D in the next stages!

follow up reading, about the job itself
So D's interview went well. The next step would be a second interview, and then I suppose he'll either be hired or not.
My follow-up question was, "Will D be offered the job?"
Using the no-layout method, and the key card is Fox.
Dog + Tower + Whip + Fox + Lady + Birds + Clouds
It didn't look so good at a glance, with Whip and Clouds. Whip + Fox can be a physically demanding job; I suppose that could describe this retail position? I think it's supervisory; at least, D would have keys to the store.
So someone D knows (Dog) in the company (Tower) is involved, and it's a demanding position. Not sure how that is relevant. A Lady will indeed call him (Birds), but her news is very unclear (Clouds).
I feel like the Clouds don't want the answer to be known yet! Which, if he hasn't gone through his second interview, could well be the case. But that goes against everything I believe about the cards -- surely there is the likelihood or not of an offer, based on things at this point in time?
If pressed, I would say D will get an offer, but not what he's expecting. Why? I don't feel there is a hard "no," and perhaps the dog person is a good omen.
Although I don't know what the Dog really contributes in this case. Could the Dog simply represent the person he already interviewed with? Or maybe someone else he is competing for the job with, who is already at the company?
The Clouds point to some confusion about the message.
I could use some input with this reading. Thanks!

Re: how will D's job interview go?
Hi rif, Birds+ Clouds to me seems like maybe some problems with the phone calls. Maybe they will play phone tag or there will be a missed message somewhere. It just seems like more of a problem with the communication about the job rather than that he won't get the job. I hope he gets called in for his 2nd soon.

Hi rif
I see the Dog+Tower as that your friend had a good and thrustful feeling regarding the interview (Whip). I would like to see a ring or teh Key to be sure he will get the job but I do believe the cards are telling you that a Lady will be talking with him and at this point now things are still unsure.
Maybe there are other candidates (2) shown as birds and Whips and she'll consider between them.
Just some extra thoughts,

Is Whip describing the kind of business? Whip can refer to sporting goods, or fitness.
Maybe Tower + Whip indicates some kind of conflict or disagreements within the company about the position.
rif wrote:So someone D knows (Dog) in the company (Tower) is involved, and it's a demanding position. Not sure how that is relevant. A Lady will indeed call him (Birds), but her news is very unclear (Clouds).
Does D know someone who works for the company? Perhaps he's not aware that he knows someone who works there?

Yeah, I get the same feeling about clouds. Maybe D will be contacted to let him know that a decision has still not been made regarding filling the position?
rif wrote:If pressed, I would say D will get an offer, but not what he's expecting. Why? I don't feel there is a hard "no," and perhaps the dog person is a good omen.
I agree that this is not a definite 'no.'
rif wrote:Although I don't know what the Dog really contributes in this case. Could the Dog simply represent the person he already interviewed with? Or maybe someone else he is competing for the job with, who is already at the company?
Usually when dog falls by itself (not next to a person card) in the No-Layout, it represents someone known to the person you're reading for-- so this would probably be someone D knows. It could be that Dog doesn't apply to the question at all. Sometimes only two cards adjacent to the key card will make sense in the No-Layout. Sylvie mentions this possibility in the workshop, and I've had it happen in my own readings as well.

Not at all.
Does D know someone who works for the company? Perhaps he's not aware that he knows someone who works there?
Not that he knows of. That's why I wondered if perhaps the Dog indicated the woman who conducted his first interview.

He still hasn't been given a definite time for his second interview. So it is still up in the air.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I guess it could refer to her since he does sort of know her now, but it still isn't clear why she would be showing up in the spread.

What do you think about it being somebody (Dog) already working in the company (Tower) who is competing with him (Whip) for the job?
Ignoring the question of whether he knows the dog or not..

Re: how will D's job interview go?
Dog + Tower + Whip + Fox + Lady + Birds + Clouds
You said this was a retail position. I wonder if they're concerned about an employee already at the store. (Dog+tower) becoming hostile (whips) because they expected to get the position D is interviewing for. I think the lady is also conflicted because they're not certain how this person will react and their impact on the rest of the staff. This person is probably a very hard worker and loyal employee, but a bit of a loner and somewhat moody.
I also agree that this isn't a no, but I don't like how it reads. To me this is more background-y than it is answering the question.
The fox keeps throwing me too because I like the anchor for work. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
