no layout - end of deck
What are you guys doing nowadays when the no-layout turns up a key card at the end of the deck? I don't know if it's ever happened to me before; and usually I just sort the deck rather than fan-and-pick.
Today I did a fan-and-pick, and looked for the key card. Wouldn't you know it turned up as the very last card? Leaving me with a reading that doesn't talk at all about the future.
I know that Sylvie recommends starting over, that it means the question wasn't focused properly. I focused quite a bit while shuffling, so I disagree. To be fair I have a tight shoulder muscle that distracted me while picking; but I still don't think that means my card drawing should become invalid.
Perhaps this is just a limitation of the no-layout, and it's appropriate to re-draw when the key card is at the end of the deck? (Because it's at the end, rather than for any mystical reasons.) Kind of like in the Master Method, you have the option of re-drawing or else re-arranging if the querent card is not surrounded by nine cards. It "just is".
So what do you guys and gals do?

Re: no layout - end of deck
Hi rif, what I do is, I hold the deck in mt hands and charge the key card depending on what I want to know without taking out the key card. After then, I look for the key card and place in down. After that, I shuffle the cards thinking of my question. Once I shuffled the cards then I either fan them out and place them where they are supposed to be placed or I get a card from the tio of the deck like I would do with a tarot. You should really try it. I was worked great for me

Hi Rif,
I've never had it happen to me, and I do randomly pick my cards. I agree that a lack of focus is not the only reason a key card might turn up last. Here's what Sylvie has to say about this situation...
I think I would try again before deciding that 'nothing of the future is written as of today.'
If the key card consistently showed up at the end of the deck, I would give up and try the question on another day.

Syvlie Steinbach wrote:Yes it is correct. It does happen that you end up having all the cards face up by the time you get to the key card. Why?
1- you may have word your question wrong. Rephrase it and try again.
2- you may have not been focused enough, your thoughts were off centered.
3- the 2/3 cards before the last one which happens to be the key card may be more significant. The future -the right side- may still be undecided by the subject of your question.
Finally if you get the situation twice on the row which is very rare the message may be that nothing of the future is written as of today and to try your inquiry another day...

Re: no layout - end of deck
Thanks guys. I'm testing my own solution for this -- treat the cards as a circle; and the cards that follow the end of the deck can come from the cards at the beginning.
