No layout - interesse
Hi Lenormanders
Yesterday I did a spread for a friend. She wanted to know if someone was still interested on her. She asked me if it would be wise to invest some time on him or just let it go. I did a no-layout and I had some doubts about the answer.
As I'm not a professional reader I told her I would check with some friends as well.
I think the cards didn't really addressed the question OR the guy is really busy with other problems.
As a no-layout the cards on the left should be related to past or influencial issues and the cards to the right should be related to the future (or answer). The guy is looking to the other side in my pack of cards and that's why it came my first doubt. Is then the left the answer and future side in this case? OR being the no-layout this wouldn't matter at all?
He is facing (or have had) some deep decisions related to family/life. It seems to me he's making choices because something new has appeared and he's seeing it as a big change (stars).
Then my second question: how does this connect with the question? Is she the "new thing" that has appeared in his life? The cards should be related to her in any way... or are there some second/third levels I'm not seeing? To clarify all this I've done an Answer Spread with the PC (posted in the right section)...
Thanks for any help,
Stanze

Hi Stanze,
I don't think it is important which direction cards are facing when using the no-layout.
I gree with your interpretation, but since the question was if he is still interested on her, I try to connect the cards to the question and think he stilol is because there are no blockages or cards saying no.
He is probably deciding about something new, but it could have to do with her, may be propose himself..... I think this reading is positive.

Hi Stanze,
House + Tree + Roads + Man + Child + Rider + Stars
I think the cards didn't really addressed the question OR the guy is really busy with other problems.
Sure they do! What I wonder, though, is what's really going on in his life. Seems to me like he's got a family to take care of.
As a no-layout the cards on the left should be related to past or influencial issues and the cards to the right should be related to the future (or answer). The guy is looking to the other side in my pack of cards and that's why it came my first doubt. Is then the left the answer and future side in this case? As Serena says, the facing of Man is not relevant in the no-layout. Sylvie's original format doesn't rely on card "directions" at all. Yes, the left is past or present issues, and right is future or intentions. So don't worry that the Man is facing right in your cards.
He is facing (or have had) some deep decisions related to family/life. It seems to me he's making choices because something new has appeared and he's seeing it as a big change (stars).
I would say he's had to deal with family life, as you say -- House + Tree are deep-rooted family connections to me, and the Roads bring a choice he has to make. With the Child and Rider, he's thinking about starting something new with someone who suddenly appeared in his life. This person has brought him hope.
Then my second question: how does this connect with the question? Is she the "new thing" that has appeared in his life? The cards should be related to her in any way... or are there some second/third levels I'm not seeing? To clarify all this I've done an Answer Spread with the PC (posted in the right section)...
I think she likely is. I also think this spread shows that he is still interested. One can infer that she may need to be patient as she learns more about his family ties, while knowing that she is like a breath of fresh air to him.
Re: No layout - interesse
I read this a little different but not entirely.
I use the no layout for everything, but at this point it has evolved in my practice. I generally read the cards behind the person to be representative of thought with the cards in front being the action (or intended action at this time).
If I had thrown these cards, I would say that the question was answered. She wants to know if he is still interested in her. I would say yes. The child can be new beginnings here or if you couple it with the rider it could mean that she should receive news from him in a little bit. Add the stars and whatever this news is will offer her some clarity as to his hopes (and I am using the stars again to represent this). The cards behind could indicate he has a decision to make regarding some issue that has been dragging on for a long time (tree) at home. I like the family reference and I probably wouldn't have thought of it though it makes perfect sense to use the house+tree in this manner. I'll remember that in the future though. It could also mean that he is about to decide to settle down (house + tree) and put down his own roots.
The most important thing (in my humble opinion) is what the cards represent to you however. The cards will speak the language you assign it. The reason I would stress this is that if when you read the cards behind the man always represent the past, that is what they will represent when you read. They wouldn't read as his thoughts because this was never a consideration when you threw the cards. Intention when you're reading is important. Context is also very important to me. If the question would have been "What is going on in his life" as opposed to "Is he interested in her" I would have read these a totally different way.
Just throwing my perspective out there. Hope it may be helpful in some way.

Hi Stanze,
It looks like you're getting everyone's input on your reading!
I do think that these cards answer your friend's question.

The cards on the left will relate to the present or recent past influences in relation to the specific question-- his interest in her. I don't take into account the direction the man is facing.
House + Tree + Crossroads + Man
In the past there was stability and security, and a strong connection between them, but then the man became hesitant and unsure about their involvement, leading your friend to question his continued interest.

The cards would relate to the question, so the 'new thing' would be in relation to his interest in your friend.
The cards to the right will reveal his intentions in the future...
Man + Child + Rider + Star
In the future, there is a renewal of interest. The man will come around and realize that this relationship is something he wants. So I agree with the other takes that he is still interested in pursuing a relationship with your friend.

Thanks Serena. I had a feeling that was positive because of the absence of the bad cards. It could be at least positive for him...

Hi rif. Thanks for writing down the cards (I forgot the eventual forum issues). My deck of cards looks the same as the igures here, with some verses in Dutch and the man and woman looking opposite as the figures here. I don't know how it is called.
Funny you said about being patient as the PC cards showed the same "time waiting" process... I think then he has not yet made the decisions showed by The Ways here...

Your approach is very accute, Contessa. I really like it and it does perfectly sense as we consider the hypothesis that he has not yet made up his mind but this thing is on his thoughts. I'm still trying to see which methods - regarding LN - applies good to me. I like the no-layout but I'm not so fan of the idea of "past". I'll consider your perspective in some other spreads to see if it fits better. As I said I'm experimenting to discover what really works for me.

I'm still struggling with the idea of the past but as you have posed and choosing the Ways as "parting of ways" instead of "decision" makes sense. I'd consider this another level. I say this because I don't see that - in relation to her - he would already have made a decision. If this was the case and considering the positive influence of the other cards he would have already contacted her (at least this is how I see it).

The future makes sense (I mean, we have to wait and see).
Now I'm wondering where did you see the "patience" aspect of it, Rif? The rider should also bring the idea of quickness, right? But the PC spread also talked about "waiting"...
Thanks a lot, everybody. You are all really great!

When I looked at the past in this No-Layout, I kept focus on the question by completing the phrase: "His interest toward the querent in the past was....?"
So I see that in the past his interest was stable and secure.....etc.
The closer we get to the key card, the closer we get to the present situation. In this case the man is now feeling conflicted or drawn in two directions about how he feels in relation to his interest in the querent. So that's why I don't see Crossroads as 'a decision' in this case.

Yes, you bring up an interesting point. The Rider does usually indicate a fast time frame. The playing cards clearly showed a delay, but I don't see the delay in this Lenormand spread. It will be interesting to see how quickly this all plays out!

Yes, it's intriguing the two aspects of "timing" that appeared here and in the cards. Rif also mentioned "delays" or "long time" here as the PC shows.
I'll let you know as soon as things happens and I know something about it.

I'm very happy to know that this was a help to you. I love the no-layout but I have modified it to meet what works for me. I had seen it done years before by another woman who read with Gipsy cards and was intrigued. I have never been very comfortable with formal spreads. I do use them now and again, but this method is much less confusing for me for some reason. I hope you are able to find what works for you.
I agree - I really don't care to read for the past either. I find that if it is important to the reading it comes up on its own.
