Crowdsource Tarot

Post  Guest on Tue Jun 23, 2009 12:35 pm

Hey all,

A friend of mine sent me a very interesting link to the Crowdsource Tarot - not a traditional 78 card Tarot deck, more of an oracle deck in its own right, although it seems there is no artwork for it yet. Anyone aware of whether any artwork is being developed?

It does provide the meanings of every card, as well as a free online 3-card "reading".

It's a unique concept.

We've got three images already on the art page! Admittedly, two of them are The Corset. This is a crowdsource project: we're hoping that people are moved to contribute art -- and we'll coordinate as necessary and permitted on that. Or maybe we'll just be given a dozen more Corsets.

Thanks Bard, I appreciate the update. I think it's a fine idea. If I have a chance this summer to contribute something, I will try to do so!

I am not familiar with the term "Crowdsource". I take it then that it refers to the world at large, as opposed to a specific group of people?

That would be nifty! Pick a card and do it! Please follow the description of the image we've done
rather than a more general/different concept of the word, send a large jpg to
the Crowdsource email (crowdsourcetarot@makeincense.com), and let us know how
you'd like to be credited. We don't mind duplicates if it happens, but if you
want to "claim" a card you want to work on, drop us a line and we'll keep
track.

"Crowdsource" means roughly "You ask your friends and whoever to contribute if they feel like". We did that to get the list of words. We might have come up with the idea of having only one Trump, and that being Yes, on our own, but we certainly wouldn't have thought of Zugzwang or Dumpster or Shear. The images and meanings (and coding and such) are our work. We're not visual artists though, so that's crowdsourced too.

Draw and enjoy!
