Four Aces with the Eltynne
I decided to try this one with the Eltynne. It seems to have turned out quite well. I chose Home for home, family, and emotional concerns, Money for money (those were easy), the Table for Business and Social, as this one looks like a place those two things would, or at least could come together, and Delay for Obstacles - the train track is blocked, you'll need to go the long way round. The timing is for the next two to three months - no particular esoteric reason, I just decided to look at the summer.
Home:

Okay, home life easily looks the worst, and I'd say this is accurate. I'm still living in Downtown Hell (Despotism), I don't have a lot of control over the circumstances and nasty things happen all the time (Fate). It looks like this is only going to get worse over the next few months. Interestingly, about 90% of my neighbours are druggies, and I think that's a valid interpretation of Despotism, too. Look at the card - it can easily represent addiction, at least to my eye. And I think I can expect some worse run-ins than usual. News is coming, I'm thinking it will be a mixed bag of good and bad. Also, health problems have flared up again and I'm virtually housebound. It may be really serious, we don't know. But the cards aren't showing it, except perhaps Despotism tying me to an unpleasant house in unpleasant circumstances (Fate). There will probably be a rent increase or some other notification that I don't need (News), like new restrictions for tenants or tenancy. And there may be some bad news about the neighbourhood generally, or problems with the postal service, or my computer (Fate - News).
Business and Social:

This is interesting. I've been debating on getting a membership to the Chinese Gardens (the one tiny piece of heaven tucked away in Downtown Hell), and there were two or three concerts I wanted to go to there this summer, but owing to lack of health and lack of funds, I'd almost decided against. I think I'm going to decide FOR. The Pleasures card has music prominently featured, and overall this looks like a good line. Besides, something good (Chance, Hasard) is going to happen, possibly in the course of a social event, that will lead to more writing. I've already had the invite to write an article, but this really looks promising - and kind of fun, too. There'll also be a lot of study involved, but I enjoy it, so....on to:
Money:

Money: I have none. And I do mean none. I think that's one meaning of the Cloisters card here. But there's a second meaning hidden in that. I do get a very small stipend on account of I used to be a teaching rabbi (not a congregational one), and the Cloisters does have some connection to religious orders. So it looks like that will continue - it's up for renewal or not this summer. The next part has me a bit stumped. I can see Support from that (the money isn't enough to fold, but it'll be ongoing, I think), but Support from The Star of the Man? A fairly straightforward line, but I'm clueless here. I can't think how this can play out, unless it has something to do with the business/social/writing stuff above. Still, it looks good so I won't complain
Obstacles:

What I like here is the Carte Bleu, which tends to nullify, or at least take most of the edge off of, problems. It looks like my major problems will be negotiating something with a person in a position of authority (Negotiations - Honours), but that it won't end up as dire as I'll think it will. Well, that's nice to know
Outcome:

Destiny, Peace, and Success. I like it. No idea how I get there from here. I'm not going to try to put a heavy interp on these, because I think they speak for themselves.
Kaph, thank you for posting the spread - I've had a blast with it. I will keep you updated if any of this comes true, btw!

Re: Four Aces with the Eltynne
Hi Chanah
I don't know this Oracle but the cards are beautiful and they reminded me a lot of Lenormand.
Would the authority person in the Obstacles section be connected with the guy with the star in the Money section?
Btw, congratulations for the invitation to write the article. You can easily manage it I know.
Cheers,
Stanze

Re: Four Aces with the Eltynne
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Stanze - I'm not so sure myself!
I don't think the support from a man and the negotiations in obstacles tie together. They might do, but the money line doesn't look that bad (which is shocking, given my circumstances), it looks like whatever comes of that it comes easily. Still I'm definitely keeping it in mind, and there may well be another go-round with the tax office this year (o joy).
In the bad-news-why-do-the-icky-predictions-come-true category, there's been an alarming increase in burglaries in both the neighbourhood and the building of late. There were notices posted all downstairs today to keep the doors and windows locked at all times. I'd suffocate if I did that when I'm in here, but I'm good about closing off and locking the balcony when I go out or when I go to sleep. Makes the place an oven to come back to, but hopefully it'll help avoid the worst of this new crime wave - like we needed another one!

Re: Four Aces with the Eltynne
Hi Chanah,
Thank you for posting your Four Aces Eltynne reading! It's fun to see how the spread can be adapted to other types of oracle cards, and this looks like a great reading despite the problems showing up around the home front!
I have to say that I absolutely love the Eltynne. Unfortunately, I don't own this deck yet, but you've re-awakened my lust for the Eltynne with this reading.
I thought it was interesting that you drew both Fate and Destiny in this reading, and I wonder how each is interpreted differently in this deck?
I agree that you should definitely go for the membership to the Chinese Gardens! The peaceful atmosphere will help keep you rested and refreshed for all those writing projects that are soon coming your way!
The outcome cards look excellent, so I'd say the next couple of months are going to be much better than you think despite the usual challenges around the home and with money.
I'm looking forward to hearing some positive feedback from this reading!

Re: Four Aces with the Eltynne
Hi Kaph - You need the deck, it's addictive. I sold both my copies last winter when I was even more broke, then ended up buying another one - and will probably get a backup for it when finances permit. It would definitely be a desert island deck.
Remember that the Eltynne was originally put together by Mlle Lenormand's student, the Mage Edmond. Fate is a lot like the Scythe and Destiny is more like the Key - you can see it on the cards themselves. There may be a few subtle differences, but that's pretty much it.
I'd like to see some of those happy predictions come true myself
Strange thing about the robberies: there's a 45% increase, not just here, but in the whole area, and they aren't showing any signs of forced entry. In my building you need an electronic key fob to get in, to get from the foyer to the hall, to be able to use the lift or the stairs, etc., and the doors to individual flats have regular locks.
The whole thing seems pretty strange, but there were notices from the police and from the co-op office both. And yes, at least I'm one storey up from the ground!

Re: Four Aces with the Eltynne
Hi Chanah,
Yes, I agree-- I definitely need to get this deck.
I had wanted an Oracle Belline even before I started working with the Lenormand, and then when the Eltynne came out, I decided I wanted this deck instead of the Belline. I have a birthday coming up next month, and I've added this deck to the top of my birthday wishlist!
Thank you! Now that you reminded me of the connection I do see the similarities between Fate and Scythe, and Destiny and Key. I've guess I never thought of Scythe as 'fate,' but it makes sense, and of course Key is destiny!
Dang! The idea of robberies without any signs of forced entry is a little scary! This reading look good though, so hopefully you won't need to worry about being robbed!

Ah-ha... that's why I saw the similarities with Lenormand!!!
