L'Oracle de la Triade
Anybody read with L'Oracle de la Triade (The Oracle of the Triad)?
It's an interesting French oracle deck that was first published in 1992, and distributed in the US by US Games Systems. I've had my copy of the deck since that time, and over the years I've had some interesting readings with these cards.
About a year ago I had the opportunity to correspond with Dominike Duplaa, the creator and designer of the deck. I learned that the original drawing were multi-media including the artists own blood. It's no wonder that so many people consider this to be a very powerful deck. I've heard that it is used in France by mediums to pick up on messages from departed loved ones. Somehow that doesn't surprise me!
I find myself alternately drawn to and repulsed by this deck. I go through phases when I just 'need' to work with these cards on a daily basis, and they begin to haunt my dreams. Then I'll go through a period when I seriously consider putting the deck up for sale on ebay--but I never do, because I know the addiction will kick in again.
The images on these cards are stunning. Although the online images do not do this deck justice, you can check out the entire deck along with keywords for each card at Le message des cartes. The site is in French, but Google does a great job of translating it into English if your French is a rusty as mine.

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Thanks, Kapherus. I can read French, but only have one other site on L'Oracle de la Triade:
http://www.kinthia.com/oracles/oracle-triade.php - it's also got some meanings and combos for the Belline.
It's interesting because it gives timing and other correspondences, but it's not terribly information heavy - still, it's enough to get started.
I won't give up my copy either (for anyone who wants one, I've seen them on ebay recently from a seller in France I've dealt with a fair bit who doesn't overcharge for shipping - there's someone else there who occasionally has them, but the guy charges $50 US postage on a Lenormand deck sent from Belgium to Canada, which is more than a little extreme).
I'm still not sure how I feel about the deck. It's gorgeous, but some of the symbolism seems incongruous, and that Tree of Life on the Racine card is enough to drive me bonkers (and I do know my kabbalah). I don't have a real feeling for it - though I'll probably pull it out and spend some quality time with it at some point, and work out if it's a mish-mash or coherent to me.
I would've posted sooner, but the normal posting box doesn't work with my browser - when I clicked the 'A' in the top right hand corner above the box, it changed from being greyed out and it's letting me type now.

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Hi Chanah,
I'm not sure what was up with the greyed out posting box, I've not encountered that problem. I hope there other other folks having a similar problem. I so glad that switching the editor mode worked for you.
I agree with you about the this deck. The imagery seems a bit all over the place. I always thought it might be helpful to pick up a copy of the accompanying book. For years it was not available, and recently I've not yet been able to find for an reasonable price. Speaking of the book, there's another site I found that includes excerpts, or paraphrasing, from Dominike Duplaa's book:
Catégorie : La Triade
I think you'll find some good information there. The site also features other French oracle decks such as Belline, etc., that you may find interesting.
I first started with L'Oracle de la Triade in 1992 when there was no information available for this deck at all--beyond the LWB that accompanied it. So I've always worked with it intuitively, and found the readings to be very accurate--if a little dark.
I thought it was interesting that when I had a sample reading using this deck published on my former blog, the deck creator, Dominike Duplaa, contacted me to let me know that I had misinterpreted one of the cards which would have totally skewed the final outcome. The funny thing is that the situation depicted by the cards unfolded exactly as I had interpreted them.
That goes to show that perhaps it's not always the exact meaning you use for a card that's important, but your own personal understanding of the card that will work for you in a reading.

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
That looks like a really interesting site - thank you!
I agree that we all tend to develop our own systems of interpretation, or sometimes a card will mean something in the context of a particular reading and you'll just see it. Readers can be notorious back-seat drivers at times - I can only imagine how much that must be multiplied if you're the deck's creator!

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Hey Chanah,
I want to buy this oracle but it is very difficult to find it. In ebay there's nobody selling it either. If anyone wants to sell a used one I may be also interested.
Thanks,
FM

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Thanks for posting this deck Kaph! The images are very haunting and struck a chord with me right away. I can imagine that they are much more powerful in real life.
I am also interested in obtaining a copy if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs.

Hi Cateye,
You're welcome! It might be time for me to dust off my deck and start playing with it again!
I'm pretty sure this deck is still available new, but you would probably need to order it from France where it's published.
I'm not sure if I've already mentioned this, but in France this deck is popular with mediums who use it to communicate with 'the other side.' I've never tried to contact spirits with these cards, but the idea does fascinate me!

I orderd it!
Hi,
I have found a seller in ebay.fr and I ordered the deck and the book. I expect getting it tomorrow or on monday. The seller has been very kind combining my orders and refunding the shipping costs difference and he even sent me the track numbers.
The sellers name is mandala-bis. Check it out as I saw he had at least 2 units of this deck.
I wish to have it in my hands ...

I've seen a few readings with this deck
Well I've seen a few readings with this deck the information given to the querent was very specific and also accurate acording to the querent's feedback. I just fell in love with it.

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Hi Freshmind,
I've found this deck to be VERY accurate as well, but it can be a little dark at times, which isn't always a bad thing-- but may not be to everybody's taste and sensibilities.
I personally love the Oracle of the Triad, and I'm interested to hear what you think of it when you receive your deck and have a chance to work with it.

Oracle de la Triade
Guys,
I have this deck but to be honest I have not used it yet. I read so much about how powerful this deck is supposed to be that, to be honest, I got a little intimidated. At my stage of learing (bare tyro) I am not sure I'm ready for such a powerful instrument. However if you all are going to start using it on the forum I will gladly get out my cards and add my feeble efforts!
The cards have a very esoteric, "different" look to them. I think Chanah, our resident Qabala expert, had some differences with the attributions on one of the cards...I would be interested to hear more from her. I know the Tree of LIfe went through several changes before it reached the form we use in Hermetic Qabala. Is the artist using some other earlier schema? Not to worry; I'm mainly just curious.

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Hi Barb,
I wonder if the card Chanah had differences with is number 6 Racine (Root) which is a representation of the Qabalah Tree of Life. The divinatory meaning for this card is 'family' which I thought was a little strange considering the imagery.
Anyway, there are quite a few zany symbols in this deck. I don't own the accompanying book, so I have no idea if all of these symbols are explicated by the author/creator of the deck.
It might be interesting to start a discussion on these cards if anyone is interested?

Re: L'Oracle de la Triade
Hey I got my deck and the book !!!
I'm very glad I bought this deck. The book is great too. I love the timming techniques.
I'm just studying the meanings at the moment so I haven't used the deck in an actual reading. Just playing with it right now but I like it. The book also includes the most common combos you may expect in money readings, job readings, love readings, health readings, etc...
Just great !

Wonderful Deck!
Hi all...
Just recently I did a spread for someone with Oracle de la Triade. I am a rational person but, honestly, there is something suprarational about these cards, IMHO. I had been so intimidated by the deck, but now I feel it may become one of "my" decks.
Anyway, you guys mentioned starting a discussion thread about the cards. I don't have Duplaa's book but there are three terrific sites I've found:
http://www.larcenciel-forum.com/spip.php?rubrique10 (French, but you can translate by putting this URL in as a google search and it'll provide a nice translation)
http://lantredelyzabetha.free.fr/cartetriade.htm
and
oops, I forgot the third one. Anyhow, maybe we can all pick a card and try to discuss what we think the symbolism means, and what it normally means for us in readings, etc. I'm game if you guys are! I looooove this deck!
