Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Hello out there!
Well this is my first attempt at doing this so forgive me if it's not quite how it's done!
Nobody else seems to be using these wonderful cards and I have no pictures for you so a brief description and a loose tie in to a trad tarot will have to do. Sorry if it is a bit long winded.
I drew three cards and asked how my day was going to go.
The first card was 4 spiritual (4 of wands) called Foundation and Achievements. This card shows a medieval one child family looking at their (new?) thatched /timbered home which has a rainbow over the top.
4 is a number of practicality, the home is the spiritual home that shows that a goal has been reached and the rainbow will have that pot of gold at the end I am sure! The indigo border relates to the crown chakra
The second card is 4 Physical (4 of coins) called Firm Foundation. This shows a very muscular man with his back to the viewer. There is a red triangle at the base of his spine which is echoed by the mountain that he looks as though he is about to set off to climb. Between him and the mountain is a three tier viaduct.
No 4 again is the number of practicality The red border of the card relates to the base chakra where both physical and spiritual strength come from. There has to be a firm foundation before anything is achieved. To build the impossibly high viaduct the foundations have to be strong and deep. Being physically fit to climb the mountain takes preparation.
The final card was 9 mental (9 swords) This card is called 'suffering in silence'.
Number 9 is the number of humanitarian concern but also ambition. The card shows a woman sat back on her heels at the top of a long dark flight of rock stairs. she has her hand on a staff but it is lying on the ground. She is staring out into a distant horizon where the sun is shining on the distant peaks and the light is golden and inviting. Birds too are flying high in that direction. The indigo border relates to the third eye and intuition.
Ok onto the interpretation
The first card (Foundation and Acheivements) shows that I have practically achieved a goal on my spiritual path. That is what I am doing here! I am both building a foundation to take my oracle reading further and managed to overcome my shyness in doing this! That is a good start to my day!
The second card (Firm Foundation) relates to my physical plans for the day (starting with decorating the downstairs bathroom) The firm foundation is a reminder for me not to do my usual spiderwoman tricks and get that ladder firmly on the floor!! Also a note that at well beyond fifty I am not as strong and fit as I used to be, so pace myself. The final bit is not to be too impatient (viaducts were not built in a day!).
The final card (Suffering in Silence) is a reminder to ask for help and not to ignore the staff lying on the ground. Suffering in silence will not get me to my desired destination (finishing the decorating!) and fulfill my ambition and goal. The intuitive side of the card is not to expect my partner to be telepathic. If I don't ask I won't get the help I need!
Very interesting. This exercise REALLY made me look at the cards. I noticed things I had not seen before. Hope anyone brave enough to read this managed to stay awake!

Re: Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Hi Sally_flower,
Outstanding daily draw! I've heard a lot about John Holland's Psychic Tarot deck-- I've always been a fan of John Holland's mediumship work, and I have to admit I was surprised at first when he came out with a Tarot deck. I've listened to him talk about the deck on his radio program, and I was even more surprised to learn that he had actually started out as a Tarot reader! So it makes sense that he would have some ideas about creating his own Tarot deck.
I'm not familiar with the cards, but I think you did a great job of describing them, and your interpretation makes perfect sense! Interesting about drawing the two 4's! It looks like you're going to have a very grounded day-- perfect for climbing ladders! Thank you for sharing your daily draw with us!
I'm debating where to move your post since your daily draw isn't with playing cards, and I don't want your post to get lost among all the playing card daily draws. I would like future member to be able to easily find your information on The Psychic Tarot. Do you think the Psychic Tarot belongs with traditional Tarot, or with Other Oracle decks?
I didn't want to move the thread without letting you know because for some reason the shadow message isn't working lately when I relocate a thread, and I didn't want you to think your thread had simply disappeared.
Thanks again for sharing your reading!

Hi Sally
I also don't know these especific cards but the description of them are similar to the Tarot (what I do think they are, of course!)
The meanings you gave seem to me also very familiar with the meanings of the normal Tarot. Is that correct?
Thanks for sharing,
Stanze

Re: Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Yeah, I agree, Stanze. Since John Holland calls his deck 'Tarot' I think his intention was for it to be considered a Tarot deck, but there's some controversy in the Tarot community since the deck is so far from traditional.
There are only 65 cards instead of the traditional 78, there are no 10's or Court Cards in the Minor Arcana, and he included 7 Chakra cards. I think the Chakra cards are what make this deck unique and interesting.
I'm not usually drawn to Tarot decks (as I am to oracles), but this deck is definitely on my wish list!

Thanks Kaph, for showing me the differences. I didn't know these cards. They seem really interesting. I'll check if I can find them here in NL at least to see them live!!!

Hi Kaph
Thank you for the encouragement! and thank you too to everyone who took the time to trawl through a pictureless post!
As for moving the post, it's a difficult choice, but as it is not a pure Tarot deck maybe everyone would be happier if it were catagorised in 'other Oracles' - John Holland himself calls The Psychic Tarot an Oracle deck. That's assuming that the oracle members don't object to having something slightly tarot in their group!!
As you probably guess I am more than enthusiastic about this deck:D I have only had it 4 days and it speaks loud and clear!
On the decorating front, I have managed to get one coat of paint on without toppling off the ladder - only one more coat to go!
AND I have asked for help, so things are moving along twice as fast.

Re: Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Hi Sally,
You're welcome-- I enjoyed your post very much.
I agree that the 'Other Oracles' forum is a good home for the Psychic Tarot Oracle deck, so I've gone ahead and moved the thread. I try not to be too much of a stickler about where threads are posted (which is tough for me with so much Virgo in my chart), but I was afraid your thread would get lost among all of the playing card threads. Now if someone wants to look for information on the Psychic Tarot, this forum is a logical place to look.
Sounds like you're making great headway with the bathroom. Decorating is such a pain in the tush, but the end result is always so worth it!

I'm sorry!
I just wanted folks to know that if they see the user 'admin' they know it's still me. I created the user id to test some features, and don't intend to use it unless I'm testing admin stuff. I'm still crazy ol' me!

Re: Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Hi, Sally! Interesting deck. Maybe it is a Tarot, the Minchiate has 90-odd cards and the Mantegna doesn't even pretend to follow the Tarot structure. Don't move the thread again, Kaph!
Just saying the boundaries are debatable.
Re: Psychic Tarot Oracle (John Holland) D/D
Great reading, Sally!! You may want to have a look at Janet Boyer's review on this deck. I had my eye on it but wonder if it is one of those "no bulls" decks that hit you straight in the face:lol!:

I understand what she says about being frightened about a deck. I had one of these.... Accurate but scary.
Love,
Ana

Hi Ana
Thank you for your kind comment and also for the link with pictures of some of the cards. It was a good review and a shame she didn't get on with the deck. Each to their own! As you have probabaly gathered I love it!
