Sample Shustah Reading - Second House
Sample Shustah Reading
Part 2 - The 7th House
This is part 2 of the Sample Shustah Reading. In Part 1 we looked at the 1st House. Now we will take a look at the 7th House to see how it relates.
The 7th House:
The 7th House is the house of marriage and partnerships. This area covers long-term relationships, business partnerships, and how the individual cooperates with the people in his or her life. This is also the 1st House for the individual’s marriage partner.
Pages in the 7th House:
Green 11 - The Playful Page
Blue 5 - The Diamond
Black 14 - The Card of Self (reversed)

The Playful Page denotes indulging the low self, having a good time, and not taking things too seriously. In the 7th House, this card can indicate playing around, or not taking the relationship seriously enough. With certain other cards, such as Red 4 (The Bed) or Red 8 (The Serpent), the Playful Page could indicate 'fooling around or a love affair on the side,' but luckily that isn't the case in this reading.
The Diamond denotes emotional strength and understanding. In the 7th House this card indicates a commitment to the marriage partner.
The Card of Self would represent the querent herself. Wherever this card falls it indicates the area of life where the individual is placing the most energy. In the reversed position, this card can denote “selfishness,” or failing to live up to one’s highest potential.
7th House Interpretation:
In a reading where the individual’s marriage comes into the 1st House (as is the case with this reading), it’s a good idea to read the 7th House as both the Individual’s 7th House, and the marriage partner’s 1st House.
Individual’s 7th House: The 7th House is confirming what is in the 1st House. The Playful Page indicates that the individual is not taking her role in the marriage seriously enough, even though The Diamond shows that she still feels a strong commitment to the marriage partner. The Card of Self in the reversed position reiterates that she is not doing all she can to make the situation better. It seems she is too focused on herself and her own needs in the relationship, and not focused enough on the needs of her partner.
The marriage partner’s 1st House: The Playful Page in the 1st House indicates that the marriage partner does not take himself very seriously. He wants to have fun, and not deal with serious issues. The Diamond denotes that this trait can be a strength for this person. The Card of Self reversed warns that this lack of seriousness can prevent this person from meeting his full potential, and may lead to self-indulgence.
Summary: The Playful Page in the first position suggests that the individual is not taking the problems seriously. She may complain, but she isn’t ready to make any changes. The Diamond in the middle position indicates that both parties are still very committed to the relationship and to each other. The reversed Card of Self in the last position indicates that the marriage partner isn’t taking the individual’s needs into consideration either. Neither partner is putting forth the necessary effort to make the relationship work. It’s obvious that they are still committed to each other. If each made the effort, they could have a very stable, secure marriage.
Next we’re going to take a look at the individual’s 12th House because the 12th House can also tie in with the 1st House, and in this case it does.
