Shustah Card Combinations

Post  Kapherus on Thu Jan 08, 2009 5:27 pm

The book Pages of Shustah: Divination and Meditation Cards by Ann Manser and Cecil North-- which to my knowledge is the only book available on Pages of Shustah--- only provides a small number of specific card combination in the section about answer specific questions using a ten card spread.

I always wished that the book provided more. I learned a few more combinations from my mentor, and discovered a few from my own work with the cards. I'm in a Shustah mood today, so I though it would be interesting to start a thread to discuss first the combinations presented in the book, and then any others that you have discovered from working directly with the cards.

Let's start with the first combination presented in the book...

The Green Horse (The Magical Horse) + No. 1 black (The Card of the Ram) = swift death

This is an ominous combination that I've only had show up once in a reading. It represented the swift end to a situation, and not a sudden physical death-- although I think these cards could predict a sudden physical death. I think I would be concerned if they fell in the 1st House of 'the self' or the 6th House of 'health.'

Let's take a look at the cards individually to see if we can make sense out of why this combination would indicate a swift end...

The Green Horse represents physical speed or swift progress. In a reading this card can indicate that an even predicted in the cards will manifest quickly (usually in 7 to 10 days in my experience) or it can indicate that a situation will mature or move forward much more quickly that expected. So obviously that where the idea of 'swiftness' comes from in our combination.

The Black Ram represents the zodiac sign Aries. The Black cards in the Shustah deck can represent the people in our lives, and so Black no. 1 might represent a person of Aries temperament, but that interpretation doesn't seem to support our combination. If we remember that Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, and that Mars represents physical energy (among other things), then we have a clue about why this combination represents death-- the Mars energy burns hot, but it isn't easy to sustain, and a cooling off period usual follows. Have you ever been so fired up by a new project or relationship that you eat, drink, and sleep it, but then just as quickly you experience a decline in enthusiasm until eventually your interest seems to completely fizzle out? That's the Mars energy at work in the situation.

So the logic behind this combination seems to be that Green Horse and Black Ram together refer to a lively situation (or a life) that swiftly turns cold, or dies on the vine.

The Green Horse + The No. 1 Black

Post  Diane on Sat Jan 10, 2009 2:54 am

Kapherus,
My husband drew these two cards together with the Totem as the third card a few days before Christmas. (3 card draw for the day) I told him I felt this was in regard to his father. He is 91. I feel his father's Light getting dimmer everyday.
His father told us there was a man in a Scottish kilt standing at the foot of his bed and asked him to come with him. He refused. He called the security guard about an intruder and the security guard assured him he must have been dreaming.
Recently he had a dream about a man asking him to pour out his water in the vessel he was holding onto the blanket and lay down on the blanket. He refused and then woke up.
I know his time is near to cross over to the Other Side.
Love and LIght,
Diane

Hi Diane,

Wow, 91 years old is amazing! I agree that your father-in-law's dreams sound like he's being prepared for the transition, but he doesn't seem ready to go yet.

The Green Horse + Aries combo usually indicates a swift passing-- either sudden or within 7 to 10 days of the reading. I think Blue Totem-- especially if it follows the combination-- could modify the timing. It seems that your father-in-law will determine when he's ready to go.

A Shustah reader friend of mine once had Green Horse + Aries show up in the 6th house for a woman at a psychic fair. This is the classic combination for the death or loss of a pet. The woman did have several animals, so my friend advised her to be careful one didn't get loose. My friend never saw the woman again, so we don't know if one of her pets ran off or died.

As an interesting side note, just before my dad died, I had Red Death in the 10th house along with Weeping Woman. Because I was going through some job changes at the time, and 10th house of course refers to career, I read it as pertaining to work. But 10th house, ruled by Capricorn and Saturn, can also refer to the father. Shocked

Hey Kaph-
My husband drew 3 cards this morning. Death, Black 9 (Sagittarius), and Weeping Woman.
Could this be about his father? Sagittarius is in the 9th house...
Thanks Kaph!

Hi Diane,

It's possible, but I wouldn't normally read Sagittarius as the father unless he had a Sagittarius sun sign or rising sign, or displays Sagittarian characteristics. The 9th House covers higher education, long distance travel, etc., so you could find a connection with that area of life.

Sag is ruled by Jupiter which brings good fortune, increase and expansion to a situation. So it's normally a great card that indicates energies moving in a positive direction, but with unfavorable cards such as Weeping Woman, it can denote too much of a good thing such as abuse or overindulgence in food, alcohol, drugs or sex. So on a more positive note, these card could indicate the end of a bad habit or overcoming an unhealthy attachment to someone or something.

Of course Sagittarius can actually refer to a person (the black cards very often depict the people in our lives). This would be someone who displays Sagittarian traits: freedom loving, optimistic and philosophical, and perhaps tactless or unfocused at times.

Daily draws are usually not as personal as the Astrological Wheel reading, so your husband may simply hear of the passing of a someone with those qualities.

Hope this helps!

Kaph,
I really want this deck but I can't find it for a reasonable price...do you know of anyone selling it cheaply or do you have any suggestions for a reasonably priced source?

I'd want the book too.

Hi Barb,

I've always ordered my Shustah cards from the Temple of the Living God Bookstore in St Petersburg, Fl. It's been a while since I've ordered a deck, but I do remember that the price was reasonable.

They'll ship anywhere in the US, but I'm not sure about overseas.

The deck has been OOP for many years, and it's still available for a reasonable price because it has only recently become popular outside of the State of Florida. It's an incredibly charming deck-- and one of the most accurate oracles I've worked with. It's definitely worth owning.
