Artist Information and Signups (Closed)

Hi everyone! This is the official faq and signup page.

I hope everyone is as excited as I am about this project. Pulling it off will require some commitment and patience, but I'm confident we can do it!

ARTWORK We’ll begin with the Court cards and Aces. Cards will be assigned, but artwork will be completely at the artist’s discretion. Medium, theme, traditional, collage, abstract, electronic or mixed-media, you name it - it’s all you. Artwork will remain your copyright and be used with permission. Artwork must be submitted to Analae by email (analae@gmail.com) on or before August 30, 2009. Electronic images must be at least 300dpi. Those without access to a scanner should contact Analae by email or PM to make other arrangements. We’ll post it to the forum as it comes in. And please sign your artwork!

Signups:

We're not certain yet how many artists/artisans/creatively inspired people will be interested in taking part, so we're starting with the Faces & Aces. If we are able to get at least 16 (or 17 ) artists, each person would theoretically be responsible for one card. The more, the merrier! Signups will be open until July 11, so by then we will have a better idea of what we're in for. Keeping in mind that each person who signs up will likely be responsible for at least one card, which we'll designate by July 15, 2009, we hope that August 30, 2009 is a reasonable timeframe in order for you to get creative and to get your designs in. Furthermore, if you think committing yourself to more than one design would be unrealistic, let us know.

Backup Artists:

Stuff happens sometimes, and some people may, for one reason or another, be unable to complete their project. Please indicate whether you wish to be an artist, a backup artist, or both. If you sign up solely as a backup artist, you know you may not be called upon to fulfill the role; conversely, if you commit to both roles, there is a chance that your workload might increase.

Media, subject matter and symbolism:

Anything goes. The concept of this deck is to make it as eclectic and unique as we all are here on the Forum. The usual guidelines of decency and propriety apply, and beyond that, the sky's the limit.

Don't let that stop you - collage is always an option after all!

I'm also enthusiastic but as bombshell my drawing and design talent is close to zero...

Wow, what a great idea! I'm a little nervous about doing the court cards, they always were hard for me to interpret anyway! so I will sit the faces and aces round out, but available for the next set!

Which brings a question to mind (sorry if its a dumb Q)
Does it matter what interpretation we use?
Would you like it all to be from the same source, i.e. Kaph's method?
Because most of us use different meanings, i.e.
I use the hedgewytchery of sixes being paths or forward movement, but not every one does, so when this card is completed with artwork dipicting pathways and roadways and forward momentum etc,.it may not mean a thing to someone else because they read a different meaning for this card.

And only if they intend to purchase and use the deck, which I will absolutely do!

I think this is a fantastic project!
I'd definitely like to participate, I enjoy Photoshop and PaintShopPro, so I can come up with something

And I will definitely be buying at least one copy or two! lol

Hi Midnight-Dawn!

It's up to you, to be sure, whether or not you wish to participate. I'm not sure we'll get to customize more cards for this project, though, and we might not do a round for the pips, so I just want you to be aware.

I think these are great questions! My answer would be that since the card is meant to be a personal reflection of you, what you depict on the card will depend on your experience with the card, so whichever definition speaks to you would be the one you'd use. Does this help?
