tips for card creation
As people come up with tips in the creation process, perhaps they can share here to benefit others.
I'll start by sharing two tips from my first card, which I created in Photoshop, although this tip would be relevant to any image-creation software.
First, I used a document size of 2.625" x 3.625", or 788 x 1088 pixels at 300 ppi. I'm assuming a printed card size of 2.5" x 3.5", so that was the area I limited my artwork to. This gives a small "bleed area" as the border, should it be needed.
My second tip is that the Zapf Dingbats font includes playing card symbols, which I used for a club rather than draw my own. So if you have this font, check it out for the suits. (I have three Wingdings fonts, but I couldn't find the suit symbols in them.)
I hope someone finds this helpful.
Don't forget to share any other tips!

Great idea sharing tips for card creation!
I found a huge resource for public domain images which includes signs and symbols as well as hundreds of different images including anatomy, angels, religious symbols, people, animals, flowers, music, vintage and ancient, etc.
It's definitetly worth checking out if you'd like to create digital artwork:
